Opatija is one of the most beautiful cities in Kvarner, often called Pearl of the Adriatic.
The story of Opatija is related to church of St. James and its monastery, since this is where the town got it’s name (Opatija is the Croatian word for abbey).
Opatija is the place where the story of Croatian tourism begun. It all started back in 1844 when Ignacio Scarpa, a wealthy merchant tired of living in the neighboring town of Rijeka, was searching for a place where he could escape for a while and have a rest from his everyday life. He found such a place fifteen kilometers away in Opatija. There he selected a summer residence and called it after his late wife Angiolina. Villa Angiolina, a real Biedermayer beauty, soon became an important part of social life. And this is where Opatija tourism story begun.
Today Opatija is famous for an amazing villas, hotels, beautiful summer residences, promenades and parks. Located under the Ucka Mountain and Nature Park, Opatija provides a great choice for summer and winter vacations.
Beacuse of her history and beauty, Opatija is a great choice for romantic moments. Even though Dorin and Oliver get married in Zagreb, Opatija was their choice for the wedding session. Beautiful couple, Hotel Kvarner and romantic old lady Opatija, made this a perfect day for capturing some memories. It was my pleasure to capture these beautiful moments and tell a story about their love.
